Does it cover deep drainage runs?

Yes. Once a run is deep enough to restrict access and air movement it is treated as a confined space with its own entry controls.

How is plant kept away from people?

Through physical segregation, defined pedestrian routes, banksman arrangements and exclusion zones around slewing machines.
