Almost every fatal fall through a roof happens on a surface somebody assumed would hold. Surveying from below or from an aerial view first, and recording which areas are fragile, is what turns the access decision into an informed one.

How is a survey done safely?
From ground level, from an adjacent structure, from a platform, or from aerial imagery. Not by walking the roof to find out.
What counts as fragile?
Rooflights, fibre cement sheets, corroded metal decking and any covering whose condition cannot be confirmed. Treat unknown as fragile.
