HVAC / Air Conditioning RAMS

Air conditioning work combines a hot flame, a pressurised system and plant that usually sits on a roof. Each of those needs its own control, and the document keeps them together so the brazing permit is not forgotten because the access took all morning.

Why you need it on the job

How it links to the standards

The equipment and controls this template asks you to record are governed by published standards that define what each item must withstand and how it is tested. These are the ones that apply most directly:

  • EN 388 — gloves against mechanical risks
  • EN 166 — eye protection
  • EN 361 — full body harnesses

The full EN standards library covers every standard referenced across SafetyOrbit.

Frequently asked questions

Why is nitrogen used for pressure testing?

Nitrogen is inert and lets the system be tested safely without releasing refrigerant, but it displaces oxygen so ventilation matters in enclosed plant rooms.

Does brazing need a hot work permit?

Yes. It is an open flame, so it is treated as hot work with combustible clearance, extinguisher provision and a fire watch afterwards.
