Why you need it on the job
Most principal contractors will not let you through the gate until they hold your RAMS as a single controlled document. Binding the assessment and the method statement together gives you one version number, one approval and one briefing register, so the two halves cannot drift apart or get approved twice.

What is the difference between RAMS and a risk assessment?
A risk assessment identifies the hazards and sets the control measures. A method statement describes the sequence of work that puts those controls into practice. RAMS is both, issued as one document.
Who signs the briefing register?
Every operative who will carry out the task signs to confirm they were briefed before work started, and the person delivering the briefing signs alongside them.
